What the hour is for.

What each hour is for, in the academy’s own words, including the notes on the booking calendar.

A coach smiles through pad work. The Buckhead MMA deer is on the wall behind her.

Intro to MMA

Learn the basics of striking and grappling in a safe, beginner friendly environment while building strength, confidence, and well rounded martial arts skills. The MMA class on the scheduler is the complete fighting system: striking, grappling, and transitions, for every experience level.

Brazilian jiu-jitsu

Master ground fighting techniques, submissions, and escapes while improving flexibility, strategy, and self-defense skills. All skill levels train under Leon Davis and the black belt team. The room is for fundamentals, competition prep, or a new challenge, without the ego.

Women’s only Brazilian jiu-jitsu

Women’s only Brazilian jiu-jitsu is its own bookable class, coached by Akasha Nunnally. On the scheduler it currently uses the same weekly windows as Brazilian jiu-jitsu, including Saturday at 10:00 a.m.

Striking

Partner based training that combines pad work and controlled sparring to sharpen stand-up fighting, using elements of Muay Thai, kickboxing, and karate.

Fitness kickboxing

High-intensity punching and kicking on a stand-up bag. Bag work, ground bags, and bodyweight exercises. Gloves are there to borrow. Athletic wear. Barefoot on the mats. Arrive about 15 minutes early.

Shidokan

Shidokan karate combines striking, kicks, and basic grappling. Practical technique, beginner friendly, aimed at strength, confidence, and real-world self-defense. It is often called the triathlon of karate: knockdown karate, Muay Thai style striking, wrestling, and judo.

Sumo

A beginner friendly grappling class about balance, positioning, and controlled strength. The goal is to move your partner off balance or out of a marked space. Training is on padded mats. Students stay fully clothed and wear a mawashi, which can be provided. Tight athletic clothing is the ask.

Aerial silks

All strength levels. No dance or aerial experience required. This is the basics class and it is required for new students before the beginner class. Form-fitting athletic wear, barefoot, no zippers.

Lyra

An all-levels hoop class. Grounded warm-up, light conditioning on the lyra, then a series of skills students build into a sequence. The scheduler lists it Monday at 8:00 p.m.
